The ERM system is a cloud-based software as a service (SaaS), used by a number of universities and institutions worldwide. The QUT ERM system was implemented in 2021 and configured to follow the workflows required for the submission of research ethics and biosafety applications for review and approval in accordance with National ethics codes, guidelines and biosafety legislation. While QUT does have control over configuring the steps in the workflows and email communications in the system, the User Interface (UI) and main functions are set by the vendor for all customers of ERM worldwide.  The Australia Pacific ERM user group consisting of multiple institutions including QUT, meet bi-monthly with nominated staff to discuss and raise issues and improvements to the vendor for consideration/inclusion.  The system is under constant improvement with bi-monthly releases being performed by the vendor.
